Our next meeting will take place at the Parish Hall of St Mary & St Alban, Langham Road, Teddington, TW11 9HF on Friday 14 June from 1100 to 1300.
The hall in Langham Road is near St Alban’s Church which is also the Landmark Arts Centre, the impressive church at the river end of Teddington High Street near the junction with Kingston Road, Manor Road and Ferry Road.
The 281, 285 and R68 buses stop here. Langham Road is off the High Street at this point. The meeting room is the Mina Hogan room on the ground floor which is accessed by the wheelchair ramp on the side of the building. Tea and coffee will be available.
Our speaker will be Michael Peacock, also chairman of the CSRF Richmond and Twickenham Group, who will give an illustrated presentation on the history of London Transport.
The other two meetings this year will be on Friday 13 September, when Ian Franklin, formerly a warder at Hampton Court, will give an illustrated talk on “Hampton Court – Behind the Scenes”, and on Friday 13 December, when the subject will be Alice in Wonderland by Gerald King presented by Paul Leonard, chairman of the York House Society.
On Thursday 18 April there will be a Freedom Pass visit to the Ranger’s House on Blackheath. This English Heritage property holds the Werner Collection of 700 works of art. Optional visit to Greenwich afterwards. Meet at Waterloo at 10.45am. Ring Lionel Beer on 8979 3148 if interested.
Also, on Thursday 25 April at 10.45am we meet for coffee at Wetherspoons’ William Webb Ellis pub (formerly the Post Office) at 24 London Road, Twickenham, TW1 3RR, five minutes from the station.
