Programme September 2024 - January 2025

  • 24th September 2024
  • Michael Lammas (Winner of AV Professional of the Year 2023)
  • Hearing Dogs
  • They train clever dogs to alert deaf people to important and lifesaving sounds they would otherwise miss – such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock and even a baby’s cry. Being aware of these – thanks to a hearing dog – makes a real difference to deaf people’s lives and can even save them.

  • 22nd October 2024
  • Ruth Croome
  •  “The Work of Mercy Ships”
  • The world’s largest charity-run hospital ships take life-changing medical care to the world’s poorest. Inspirational, poignant, life-affirming!

  • 26th November 2024
  • Sally Cadec – Lieutenant Colonel (Retired)
  • “Court Shoes to Combats”
  • Never tell a woman she can’t do something. A fascinating illustrated talk about Sally’s long and varied career in the Army, which included operational deployments, in places as varied as Bovington, Germany, Sierra Leone and Buckingham Palace.
  • (Proceeds to SSAFA – The Armed Forces Charity)

  • 4th December 2024 – Wednesday
  • CSPA Annual Lunch, Marsham Court Hotel

  • 28th January 2025
  • Kevin Patience
  • “Building “The Lunatic Line” 1896 – 1901″
  • An extraordinary story of Victorian railway engineering at its best. Robert Preston and his wife led a team of Indians building a metre gauge line across the hazards of British East Africa from Mombasa to Lake Victoria, which included the infamous ‘Man-eating lions of Tsavo’ and descending the great Rift Valley.

Bournemouth and District Annual Lunch 2024

We have chosen this location again because everyone enjoyed last year’s lunch, This time we have managed to book when there are mainly coach trips in the hotel so we hope parking will be easier than last year.

If you would like to attend, please write your choices from the menu on the booking form below. Please make a note of what you have chosen. Send your forms and payment direct to Liz Malin. We do not normally send an acknowledgement. If you require one, please send a stamped self-addressed envelope.
