Anyone can have an accident, and even a fall that doesn’t cause injury can affect your confidence, especially as the risk of falling increases with age; however, falls are not inevitable, and there are steps you can take to stay steady on your feet.

Independent Age have produced a fall prevention checklist to help you spot potential hazards. Take some time to walk round your home and use this checklist to help you find any hazards. They can be hard to spot when you live with them every day.

You can request a home hazard assessment if you’re worried that you might be at risk of having a fall. Contact your GP or local council.

An occupational therapist can advise you on aids and adaptations to help you move safely around your home.
