Women Against State Pension Injustice (WASPI) is the campaign group that fights against the injustice to women born in the 1950`s caused by the big jump in state pension age with relatively short notice, then compounded by the decision at short notice to bring forward by 18 months the increase in State Pension age to 66 by April 2020. The State Pension age will rise to 67 from 2026-2028.
There has been a number of official investigations and reports, and a legal challenge, and most recently a Parliamentary Ombudsman report. The campaign group WASPI took out a judicial review against the second report, and as a result the Ombudsman has had to concede that the conclusions were ‘flawed’ and work is ongoing to revisit those conclusions. These are all around timings and whether or not compensation is due.
