Our booking for September has been cancelled by the Church as they are carrying out essential tree felling and maintenance work in the grounds and car park. We will be back to normal in October.

We are still holding our meetings at 10.45 am on the fourth Tuesday of the month,

St Mark’s Church Hall, Wallisdown Road, Talbot Village, Bournemouth, BH10 4HY.

Bus stop: St Mark’s Church. As well as any normal public bus you can catch any

UNI bus: they are not just for students. https://www.unibuses.co.uk/services

Parking at the church is at the back as well as the front of the building.

Sadly, because of rising cost for speakers, refreshments etc., we have had to increase our entrance fee to £4.00. This includes tea and biscuits as well as a speaker and is still far less than many other local talks are charging.

“Richard III and his Mother”  – She was Cicely Neville, the rose of Raby, a great beauty and hugely wealthy. It makes Richard real whereas Shakespeare’s Richard is a tragic comic monster. Richard saw his mother assaulted, possibly raped when he was 7 and his father and brother killed when he was 8. His mother died when she was 80 having seen her four boys die, two of whom were kings. This talk hopes to humanise Richard and give the respect to his mother which she deserves.

Bournemouth and District Annual Lunch 2023

After much searching we have secured the 5th December date at the family run Marsham Court Hotel in Russell Cotes Road Bournemouth

BH1 3AB

Parking is limited at the front but there is a rear car park  in Grove Road. Free for us to use on a first come first served basis but you are able to book a parking space if you are disabled.

The reason we changed location was because after using the Mayfair Hotel for many years, it was booked on a long term basis for refugees so we were no longer able to go there.

Due to this we used the Elstead last year, only to find that that too was no longer available because it had been bought by the former football manager Harry Redknapp’s property development firm. The Elstead is not doing food after October and we are not sure what will eventually happen to the site.

We’d love you to come along and try the new venue.
